Maxell 16x DVD+R media review

Introduction

Welcome to yet another DVD media review here at CDR-Zone.COM. This time the media under the microscope is the Maxell 16x DVD+R 50 spindle very kindly donated by our friends at DVDShopOnline. Maxell do produce their own grown recordable media, but the 50 spindle value pack being reviewed carrys a Media ID code from Ricoh Japan of RICOHJPN-R03-04.

"Maxell's new 4.7GB high-speed 16x speed DVD+R media is designed to support new high-performance 16x drives from Philips and several other drive manufacturers. The 16x DVD+R media supports data transfer rates of 22.16MB/sec and can write 4.7GB of data in less than 6 minutes. Maxell, the technology leader in recordable media has gained a reputation for quality, reliability, innovation and rapid time to market. "

Please Note: Packaging can differ dependant on country sold.

The Maxell 16x DVD+R media arrived in 1 value spindle of 50. This is fast becoming the most popular and price competitive way of selling DVD recordable media to the end user. It's an easy and convenient way to store quantities of discs in a very small place whilst it can also provide at least some good protection against the wear and tear of transport. On the outside of the spindle there is all the information you require about the media such as the contact details, brand name, recording speed, product reference and contact details. It tells us that this media was manufactured in Taiwan although I will be quick to point out that there is no reference to who actually makes this media on the packaging. Maxell can use multiple manufacturers to produce their media such as production needs demand as well as producing their own brand of media which is made in Japan.
