Now normally we dont post news about media prices but this huge price drop on Traxdata A grade G05 media at Big Pockets.co.uk could well signal the beginning of widespread 8x price drops.
With production of 4x media now ceasing on a lot of media companies production lines, this now now means that 8x media will be the most produced media and of course that then means prices should be cheaper.
Being a A grade Ritek media, we would expect to pay the highest price for Traxdata media then we would say a cheaper, possible B or C grade media, but having taken a look at all the most popular ( and cheapest ) UK websites, I can see that the price offered over at Big Pockets is actually 20% cheaper than some known B grade Ritek dyes.
So now we would expect lesser grade Ritek 8x media to drop in price to be cheaper than the A grade soon, and hopefully with bigger 8x production worlwide and the widespread availability of 16x DVD writers at very affordable prices this should be true.
All this to us at CDR-Zone.COM signals the start of higher recording speeds at cheaper than ever prices and on quality A grade guranteed media.
A quick thought:
Now take the fact that 8x is to become the biggest seller in place of 4x for most media manufacturers, and with overspeeding of this media easily achieved in such writers as the Pioneer DVDR we reviewed. Couple with that the fact that many media companies have decided not to make 12x media and instead go straight to 16x media production, does this mean that 16x recording could become extremely cheap in the near future?
