Hello all I'm new to here and need some help. I just bought a LG Super Multi DVD drive GSA-4160B. It is a dual layer burner so should I not be able to copy about 9Gig to a DVD? Do I need a special DVD type to copy to? I bought 3 new Maxell DVD-RW to try. It says 4.7Gig on them but I thought with a dual layer burner I could do more. I really don't know to much about this so any help and info would be apprecated. Thanks

Hi Summit 144 and welcome to our forums. Dual layer media can hold upto 8.5gb of data and is different to single layer media which can hold upto 4.7gb of data. Have you checked out our media reviews located here: http://www.cdr-zone.com/dvd-media-reviews.html they will explain about different types of media. You may need to compress the data to make it fit onto your media for which we recommend 1clickdvdcopy for its ease of use for beginners and we have a review of the software located here: http://www.cdr-zone.com/review/40/1clickdvdcopy-review-by-cdr-zone.html Please let us know if you need any further assistance

Oh so I need a dual layer DVD disk right? I guess it will say dual layer right on the package then. I downloaded the trial version of 1ClickDVDCopy and that is what I was using last night. So this program will compress the file all on it's own if it needs to right? I am also using the CCS program that 1Click recommends. Just to get this straight the Maxell disks that I have will not work over 4.7Gig even though the burner is a dual layer?

That is correct, they will only allow recording of upto 4.7gb including the required system files.

If you go into the 1Click options you will seethat as from version 4.1.0.5 there is a handy Dual Layer option you can tick. Remember to untick it if you don't need the Dual Layer option.
