I used to use the trial copy of copytodvd a month ago. Today I purchased the product and downloaded the most up to date software. I was able to burn one disc, although experienced some quirks when running the program. After that one disc all other attempts have ruined the blank dvd r's. I keep getting these two errors: error Unable to start the write process - finalization skipped to preserve media error WriteSector failed at sector 0 (16) - Code 06 29 00 [Unit attention, Power On or Bus device reset occured] I don't think the media is being preserved. I'm using a NEC DVD RW ND2500 A 1.06 USB. I had been able to burn fine a month ago with the older version / trial version many many times without any problems. I'm using CopytoDVD version 3.027.46 now. Help Puhlease?! Sonny

I was getting the same error message, however I found that I was doing something wrong that was causing the problem. Under "Movies and Pictures" >> "Copy DVD video" I would copy my DVD to the hard drive. When I went to the next step which is "Write DVD Video", at the bottom of the window I was forgetting to chose my DVD burner from the drop down list. Once I selected the DVD burner everything was fine.

Hey firestorm11 - thanks for the response. Hmmm....I am choosing the my dvd writer though. It seems like I have two courses of action with respect to this: 1 - if I forget to choose it at the drop down, then I'm prompted for it - which is the way its set in the settings 2 - i can choose it in the drop down I'm prompted for it, if its not chosen, so this hasn't been an issue for me. I've discovered that sometimes I can burn one disc - after things have been shutdown completely for a while - so this seems to indicate that some sort of power related thing is going on here I think. Any other ideas? Anyone? Hello? Smile

That's interesting because I don't get prompted if I forget to choose my DVD burner. Good luck in sorting it out.
