|
|
| Well now it's my turn to ask for assistance, I have created and MCE 2005 system to use to record television movies, problem being they are saved in the .dvr-ms format, now they can either be protected or not, the actual title will reveal this after the show is recorded, the tv shows so far haven't been protected. I found an application called Digital Media Converter. it appears to do the job, but because of the file type dvr-ms it takes along time. Does anyone know of another that may accomplish the task any faster? even 25% faster would be a great improvement. |

Hello chaosmaker, I downloaded a freeware app a while ago called DVR Ripper that's supposed to convert to elementary or program MPEG files. I haven't had a chance to try it out yet, so I can't tell you how well it works or how fast it is. It is hosted here: http://www.thegreenbutton.com/downloads.aspx (edited)

| I attempted to try your suggestion but kept getting an error. I used another application and it took a full 12 hours to do one, 1 hour tv show 13 if you count the hour to record the show, now thats a long time. |

| I mean an error when I tried to open and use it (the application). But thats a moot point now, DVDSanta converted it, and it took less than 70 minutes to do it, i've done 2 tv shows so far and they look pretty good. It's not perfect but it is very watchable, so I'll see how well it really does work. |

| I too downloaded DMC to convert my dvr-ms to a format where I could actually do some editing for some music videos out of show clips. This thing, DMC, has been sluggin along all day. Now I've downloaded DVD Santa and it's zipping along. My questions is this software will convert it to another format, right? Like avi or mpeg? Or did I dream that in my fever induced brain? |

Or did I dream that in my fever induced brain? | It creates a nice VIDEO_TS folder, ready to burn a dvd from... | Yeah, I found all those VIDEO_TS files. Now what do I do with them? Where do they go? Maybe I've just been at this for too long today. See, I got a TiVo and I have a fancy-schmancy Sony high end Multi-Media computer that runs XP MCE. Now, I split my time between both coasts so this was my solution to me on one side of the earth and my computer on the other. I want to do some music videos out of show clips as well as some other stuff. I downloaded DVDSanta. Got all those lovely VIDESO_TS files. So what to do now? How do I go about burning them to dvd? Also, if I go ahead and use Click to DVD to burn the shows (minus commercials of course), could I then at some point go back and download/save the contents of the DVD to my hard drive for possible future editing? I ask because my HD is almost full on the TiVo and I'm afraid I'm going to run out of time.......Any of this make sense? And how do I actually edit the video? Or do I burn it and then do something else with it? |

| It depends on what burning programs that you have installed......for some, you have to load the VIDEO_TS contents, some accept the whole VIDEO_TS folder...... For DvdSanta, you have to import all files in the VIDEO_TS folder and burn them.... The Sony program you have,is a dvd authoring app,but I don't know if it's capable to import V9DEO_TS files, but you can used it to create dvd's from your captures...Also,most of times with such programs, you can save projects you're working on,and load them again later to continue your project. Once a dvd is created, you can always rip it back later...or you can store projects on re-writable madia if your hd is running out of space. |
