| I had a great system with DVD Decryptor, DVD Shrink, FixVTS and all the rest. I also had Nero 6 as a OEM install and it burned all DVD’s fine, which played on every machine I had. I bought a new, faster machine with (ugh) Vista Home and now none of the Nero stuff runs on it. I downloaded IMGBurn and it run and burns BUT the DVD’s will not play on my Sony Players. I tired every which way to get this right. The next thing is to buy a new HD and set up the new computer with XP Pro and dump the Vista. Any tricks to fix this mess before I spend lots of money? |

| After I upgraded to Vista, this knid of software i’m using are Xilisoft DVD Creator(DVD burning) and DVD Copy Express(DVD copying). They work well under Vista, but a little bit problem about the interface. For example, when DVD Creator starts for the first time, u can’t drag to add files, but it’ll be okay after restart the program. If u need both, I suggest u choose Xilisoft DVD Maker Suite with 30% off. |

Most Vista users are using RipIt4Me to backup their DVDs. You can download the AIO Installer here and this will install everything you need.
You will also need to ensure you are running RipIt4Me and DVD Decrypter with Administrator privileges. As well, it is useful to set compatibility mode to Windows XP for RipIt4Me and DVD Decrypter.
Your burning issue with IB sounds more like a media problem or firmware problem. Make sure your burners firmware is current. I know its a new system, but still there could have been updates. Check with the mfg. of your burner and see what media is compatible with it.
Another thing you can try and that is reduce your burning speed. Say you are having playback problems when you burn at 8x, then try at 6x or 4x. If it works it beats throwing the disk away until you can find media that is compatible with your burner.
Good luck
