*********Sorry for this long post, but it's hard to explain***********
Okay, I know I'm using out of date versions (Copy v. 3 and DivXtoDVD), but I'm almost through with this project and would like to complete it before downloading anything else.
I’m converting (from avi) and burning episodes of one particular TV series, so each file is almost the exact same size. Usually I can simultaneously convert (using DivXtoDVD) all three episodes I want on one disc, checking the option to ‘Burn with CopyToDVD,” and it automatically burns after the conversion. It saves the converted files (each conversion group of three in one folder) on my computer and lets me burn extra discs, using the burn program separately, so I only have to convert once.
First problem: When I get to certain episodes, it won’t convert multiple episodes (with or without checking the burn option). There is no error message; the ‘convert’ button starts to change to ‘abort’ (which it does when working properly), but then it quickly changes back to ‘convert,’ as if I never clicked anything. It will convert these troublesome files one at a time, so I figured I could convert them one at a time and then use the burn program separately, just dragging the converted files into it.
Second problem: When I try to burn episodes I’ve converted one at a time, the output (converted files) of different episodes have identical file names, so I can't burn them onto one disc (one episode is not enough to waste a disc on) The output file names are always:
VIDEO_TS.BUP
VIDEO_TS.IFO
VTS_01_0.BUP
VTS_01_0.IFO
VTS_01_1
VTS_01_2
When I can successfully convert multiple files, the output has numbered suffixes. I tried to add the same numbered suffixes to the ones I have to convert singularly. The error message I get is “index of of bounds.” (not out of bounds.)
It’s not a size issue; the converted files are a little over 1 GB each and I’ve tried it with just two. |

DivxToDVD creates a DVD-Video structure. This structure must be preserved when burning, else the resulting DVD doesn't work properly.
Therefore all videos that should be on a disc must be converted in the same project. If some files don't convert together in DivxToDVD, and you convert them seperately, the only solution is to join the DVD structures with a third party application later (i.e. DVDReMake). This will involve additional steps. I think on the DVDReMake website there is a guide on how to join seperate DVDs into one.
If you want to save some hassle, I suggest you to try the latest ConvertXtoDVD, as it has been dramatically improved since DivxToDVD and includes burn functionality. |
