Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Yesterday, I had no trouble burning with CopytoDVD, today I get a hardware error. I haven't changed my media and I replaced my burner only a few months ago. I currently have no problem burning with PhotoDVD. Thank you so much. 10/20/2006 11:45:50 PM info******************** Report session closed ********************* 10/20/2006 11:45:38 PM critical Process cancelledSending anonymous statistics... 10/20/2006 11:36:31 PM info Finalizing... 10/20/2006 11:36:31 PM error Write error at 1479488 (16) - Code 04 03 01 [Hardware error] 10/20/2006 11:17:06 PM info Lead-in burning time (mS) 23083 10/20/2006 11:16:41 PM info Start Write Buffer 10/20/2006 11:16:41 PM info Start writing... 10/20/2006 11:16:41 PM info Buffer under-run proof enabled 10/20/2006 11:16:41 PM info Init success: DVD-R SAO 10/20/2006 11:16:34 PM info Writing speed requested x2.0, effective x2.0 10/20/2006 11:16:34 PM info Writing session #1 and closing disc. 10/20/2006 11:16:34 PM info Open Image file "C:\Documents and Settings\Jen\Application Data\CopyToDvd\COPYTODVD_10202006_231634_271.cache" 10/20/2006 11:16:34 PM info Required sector size : 2286448 10/20/2006 11:16:34 PM info Available sector size : 2297888 10/20/2006 11:16:34 PM info Available write speed: 2x, 1x 10/20/2006 11:16:34 PM info Media ID: SONY16D1 10/20/2006 11:16:34 PM info Volume name: "gil 1" 10/20/2006 11:16:34 PM info 120mm DVD 10/20/2006 11:16:34 PM info Detected media $0011 : DVD-R 10/20/2006 11:16:34 PM info Finished browsing files - Data size 4.36 Gb. 10/20/2006 11:16:34 PM info File scan complete: 30 files, 2 directories 10/20/2006 11:16:34 PM info Start Browsing file structures 10/20/2006 11:16:34 PM info IDE Controler manufacturer : Intel 10/20/2006 11:16:34 PM info IDE Controler Description : Intel(R) 82801DBM Ultra ATA Storage Controller - 24CA 10/20/2006 11:16:34 PM info Location : PCI bus 0, device 31, function 1 10/20/2006 11:16:34 PM info Support Media : DVD-R, DVD-RW Seq., DVD-RW RO, DVDRAM, DVD+R, DVD+RW, CD-R, CD-RW 10/20/2006 11:16:34 PM info Writing device used : 1:0:0 - MATSHITA DVD-RAM UJ-830S 1.00 [E] (Ide) 10/20/2006 11:16:34 PM info Using Patin-Couffin driver Version 1.36, Internal revision 36 - Async. Hi there, You are using 1st Class Media
Quote:
10/20/2006 11:16:34 PM info Media ID: SONY16D1
http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm And burning them at 2x, which should not be a problem at all.

This is an IBM or a Packard Bell Laptop ? I could not find a firmware upgrade for the UJ-830S but did see a firmware upgrade v1.04 for the UJ-830B (OEM from IBM). Check on the website of the manufacturor of your Laptop if there's a firmware upgrade.

I am not sure if PhotoDVD burns in "Session At Once" method. In the settings, there is a [X] Use session at once for DVD-R Disable this, and see if it will help. Maybe your burner does not like to burn using Session At Once.

Thank you for all of your help, Tabby. It is a Toshiba Satellite M30. I checked the website but can't seem to find a firmware upgrade anywhere. Today, I changed the setting to ensure I always burn at 2x and have been successful burning with DivxtoDVD, but CopytoDVD using TS files from DVDShrink still isn't working. I'll give the SAO thing a try. Thanks, once again.
