I'm fairly inexperienced with video, although I have used VirtualDub for basic conversion applications. I'd read that VirtualDubMod does all that VirtualDub, plus more. So I'm thinking of using it instead from now on (especially as I will be working with MPEG.) But, in version 1.5.10.2, when I opened an AVI file I got this: "AVI: Type-1 DV file detected -- VirtualDub cannot extract audio from this type of interleaved stream." The file opens fine in VirtualDub, and plays audio and video. Can anyone help please? BTW, I did try to use the forum via the link at http://virtualdubmod.sourceforge.net but it was inaccessible. I can provide file information if required. -- Terry, West Sussex, UK

This question is in totally wrong forum... Anyway, VirtualDubMod is modified for AC3 sound, there is newer version of VirtualDub out than what internal of mod is. But if you use MPG then best program is TMPGEnc, depends on what you are trying to do.

Thanks. Afraid I don't follow though. Still don't see why VD works and VDM doesn't? Sorry about wrong forum. Thought I was in a 'General' one. But looking at index, still not sure. Which should have used? I could have sworn I'd seen a VirtualDub/VirtualDubMod forum at one time... -- Terry, West Sussex, UK

VDM is based on older version of VD. Current version of VD is newer and probably has some problems with MPG fixed. But it does not support AC3.
