Can't play AVI XviD on DVD-DivX-Player

Well First off i wanna say to everybody in here, maybe some of you guys can give me a solution to my problem: I have a new DVD DivX Player. I also have a couple of tv-series i downloaded of the internet, i burned them as they were on dvd. The thing is i put the dvd in my player and the episode plays properly for around few seconds or minutes depends...and then the image just stops no sound. i need to skip forward to watch the episode again , but then again it stops itself again..., it works fine with dvd-r , but somehow not with data-dvd with xvid avi's. Is the problem now the dvd's , dvd-player or the tv episodes encoded in XviD !? Thanks for your patience and help CK2K4
