|
|
Hello, Sorry to be a nuisance but a while ago a friend told me to download DVD shrink 3.2 which I did and have only been able to back up one of my DVD's. All I want to do is save a copy of my best DVD's so don't want to spend a lot on specific software. I've re downloaded it and it will still not backup encripted DVD's but I beleive in the instructions it is supposed to or am I thick and have read it wrong? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks |

| Hi Elech and welcome to our forums DVDShrink is no longer updated and so does not support newer encryptions and is why maybe you are experiencing issues. Can you please state which ones you are having issues making backups of? |

| Out of the five I wanted to back up I only managed one which was Butterfly effect.I tried Saw, 50 First Dates and I will need to ask my son which were the others. What it is is that we have a motorhome and like to take some DVD's with us but I hate taking the best ones in case they get damaged and also you'll think I'm paranoid but I have quite a lot of DVD's that are what I call my special DVD's that I want to keep forever and I like to copy those and leave them at my Mum's for safe keeping. Told you I was paranoid.I've recorded some of them using a 30 day trial of DVD Fab but it's expensive when I only will be backing up odd ones when my special ones are done. Sorry I've gone on too much. Thanks |

You certainly not paranoid! I do almost exactly the same. Are you in Region 1 or region 2? If money is an issue and you don't mind a little bit of learning then this could be right up your street. Basically it allows problematic dvds with new protections to be copied as long as the protection is across. Although you have tried dvdfab did you know they have a free dvdfab decrypter which can put files on your PC that DVDShrink should be able to import. Now im no expert on this matter and I'm sure Mr_Fixer will be able to help you more over at the PSL2 forum where I see SAW is listed as Sony Across protected for some regions |

| Thank yo so much for your help. I will take a look at the other topics and see what I can find out from them. It's been a big help so far knowing why the Shrink DVD wouldn't work, I hate not knowing why something won't work it really bugs me till I find out. Michele |

No problem at all DVDs are becoming more and more difficult to back up and sometimes a bit of reading is needed for some of them. |
