Nero can back up discs that contain no protection. It does seem that you have an issue with your system as both nero and copytodvd fail or you have an extremely horrible batch of -r or you writer is defective in some way |

| Hi, I have been experiencing the same error message when attempting to burn to DVD-R discs - I found your forum discussion here and was wondering if perhaps you had resolved the problem and if so any suggestions as to how I may also be able to resolve my error. I noted your comments about the virus programs sometimes interfere - i recently updated my virus systems so I think perhaps that may be something related as I could copy previously but since updating no dvd burn program will allow me to copy my files to DVD-R discs. Am I just totally lost or is there perhaps some interferance between the two programs? Any suggestions if this doesnt help? Thanks in advance for your assistance! |

| Hi Ali and welcome to our forums and glad you found us. it was with Nortons Anti virus 2004 that I was having such issues that you mention. Which one are you using? Also is it possible that you could post your CopyToDVD log file located in C:\programs\vso\folder on your Hard drive so that we may take a closer look please? |

| I have a AMD Athlon 64 4000 with a Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe motherboard. I have 2 Gigs of DDR 400 ram and run two Gforce 6800 ultras in SLI mode and I have an Audigy 2ZS. I am using the Liteon DVD burner 1673 with the latest firmware. I have Zone Alarm 6 Security Suite and run Roxio Easy Media Creator 7.5. After disabling everything one at a time, I found that my Musicmatch 10 MIM.EXE file was causing my DVD recorder to give both error messages when using DVD-R disc. I disabled MIMboot in my msconfig and after I use Musicmatch, I use CLT-ALT-DEL and under processes, I stop MIM.EXE and MMDIAG.exe from running under processes. Now I get 100 % burns on all my DVD-R media. I hope this help. |

| There are many programs that can interfere with other burning software, things like Roxio Easy CD & DVD Creator can make burns fail just by being installed. Also packet writing software (InCD/Drag-To-Disc etc) can cause burning problems. Yet another one is some video capture software/devices, some are set to format blank discs when they are inserted. This will cause all other software that attempts to write to these formated discs to fail. So if you have burning problems you should shutdown all programs, including AntiVirus/Firewall and anything else you can. If you have packet writing software installed or Roxio software then you should uninstall it then reboot and retest. |

I had the same problems being described here using a Sony DW-D22A (which I believe is a rebadged liteon) with Sony DVD-R when it worked fine with all other media...Disabling the Musicmatch processes worked like a champ. |
