|
|
| I am having an annoying problem with this software. I downloaded Copy To DVD with the 1Click DVD Copy combo. I have never had any system problems before, but now when I try to burn DVD movies my system will spontaneously reboot during the burn process when using the 1 Click suite. This does not happen all the time. I do have some successful burns, but the Copy To DVD program will frequently reboot my system at any given time during the burn. It will occur at the beginning, middle or after a complete burn and the disk has been ejected. When I send an error report to Windows it tells me that I have a driver conflict. I have never had a driver conflict problem until I loaded the VSO driver. I have reviewed both the 1Click and Copy To DVD forums and have tried all the solutions that I could find that may relate to my problem. I would try each solution one at a time and then try another burn. None have worked. Here is a list of the items that I have tried: Turned off all power and screen saver options. Updated all available drivers. Removed DVD43 and installed AnyDVD Decryptor. Turned off Virus Scan programs. Downloaded and ran End It All. Removed and reinstalled 1 Click and Copy to DVD. Upgraded Copy to DVD to latest version w/ latest driver. Ran Disk cleanup, defrag, registry cleanup and virus scan (I preformed these steps each time I made a major software or firmware change). Here is my system info: Processor: AMD Athlon Thunderbird 1GHz L1 Cache: 128KB L2 Cache: 256KB RAM: 512MB HDD: 114GB w/ 99GB free DVD: Sony DL DVD+/- RW OS: Windows XP – Home edition (5.1.2600) Service pack 2 Here is my last burn log: 10/15/2005 5:41:15 PM info ******************** Report session closed ********************* 10/15/2005 5:40:56 PM info Write completed 10/15/2005 5:40:56 PM info Average speed x3.92 Reference x1 = 1385.00 kbps 10/15/2005 5:40:56 PM info Total burning time 00:11:17.454 10/15/2005 5:29:45 PM info Lead-in burning time (mS) 8298 10/15/2005 5:29:36 PM info Starting write buffer 10/15/2005 5:29:36 PM info Starting to write... 10/15/2005 5:29:36 PM info Buffer under-run proof enabled 10/15/2005 5:29:36 PM info Writing speed requested x4.0, effective x4.0 10/15/2005 5:29:36 PM info Writing session #1 and closing disc. 10/15/2005 5:29:36 PM info Open Image file "C:\Documents and Settings\Wendy\Application Data\CopyToDvd\COPYTODVD_10152005_172936_523.cache" 10/15/2005 5:29:36 PM info Required sector size : 1796624 10/15/2005 5:29:36 PM info Available sector size : 2295104 10/15/2005 5:29:36 PM info Available write speed: x4.0, x2.4 10/15/2005 5:29:36 PM info Media ID: RITEK-R02-01 10/15/2005 5:29:36 PM info Cache garbage cleaned: 4 files (8.79 Mb.) 10/15/2005 5:29:36 PM info 120mm DVD 10/15/2005 5:29:36 PM info Detected media $001B: DVD+R 10/15/2005 5:29:36 PM info Finished browsing files - Data size 3.43 Gb. 10/15/2005 5:29:36 PM info File scan complete: 9 files, 3 directories 10/15/2005 5:29:36 PM info Start Browsing file structures 10/15/2005 5:29:36 PM info IDE Controler manufacturer : VIA Technologies, Inc. 10/15/2005 5:29:36 PM info IDE Controler Description : VIA Bus Master IDE Controller 10/15/2005 5:29:36 PM info Location : PCI bus 0, device 7, function 1 10/15/2005 5:29:36 PM info Supported Media: DVD-R, DVD-RW Seq., DVD-RW RO, DVD+R, DVD+RW, CD-R, CD-RW, DL DVD+R, DL DVD-R 10/15/2005 5:29:36 PM info Writing device used: 1:1:0 - SONY DVD RW DRU-810A 1.0a [E] (Ide) 10/15/2005 5:29:36 PM info Using Patin-Couffin driver Version 1.32, Internal revision 32 - Async. The media used is generic, but I have tried Verbatim and had one successful burn and the second rebooted halfway thru. So now I have one Verbatim coaster and several generic. If I am going to be making coasters until I get this problem resolved, I prefer to make them from the generic media. Here is the message I get from Windows error reporting site: Error caused by a device driver Thank you for submitting an error report. Problem description A device driver installed on your computer caused the problem; however, we cannot determine the precise cause. To troubleshoot the problem, please see Getting help. If anyone could please give me some insight into my problem I would greatly appreciate it. I like the simplicity of 1Click DVD copy combo, but am getting beyond frustrated with this issue. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Hi there, I have read your email several hours ago, and would love to help, but still scratching my head too I have never used nor seen 1ClickDVDCopy so I'm not sure how it works. All I know is that it comes with CopyToDVD3_SE (I assume it means Small Edition, or Special Edition etc...) Now having the full blown version of CopyToDVD v3.0.68 should NOT matter I assume, since it's the same burn SDK. Question: Are you having reboot issues when you use 1ClickDVDCopy and/or when you are running JUST CopyToDVD on it's own ! Curious to see if 1ClickDVDCopy is doing something funky and/or is expecting Patin Couffin v1.28 and not the latest v1.32 ! Since the driver went from v1.29 to v1.32 in like 1 week ! I have sent a quick email to VSO, and come and see your message. I assume if they have comments, they will post them ! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When testing problems like this, you should use DVD-RW / DVD+RW media, so they can be erased if a problem occurs. One thing I would try, is go in \Program Files\VSO in there somewhere, find PcSetup.exe (Patin Couffin v1.32) Try to remove and reinstall the driver, just for the hell of it Copy it to D:\Temp for example ! then: D:\temp\PcSetup.exe /REMOVE then D:\temp\PcSetup.exe /INSTALL then look at My Documents\PCSETUP\PcSetup.log Maybe reinstalling/forcing a fresh install might help ? Just trying to help, if it does nothing, at least we will have tried it ! |

There is little in your log file that would indicate a problem, however you seem to have a multi-install of CopyToDVD. | Quote: | | 10/15/2005 5:29:36 PM info ExeName : "C:\PROGRA~1\vso\COPYTO~1\COPYTO~1\CopyToCd.exe" | This will happen if you install the 1Click DVD Copy package (with CopyToDVD SE) then update to the latest release from our (VSO-Software) website. To fix it you will need to do the following: Uninstall the software using Windows Add/Remove programs and reboot, if CopyToDVD or VSO CopyToDVD is listed in Add/Remove more than once then remove them all. Once you have rebooted navigate to C:\Program Files and delete the VSO folder, if you have problems deleting the VSO folder (CtcdShell.dll error) then you will need to click Start>Run and paste ALL of the following in and click OK. regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\VSO\copytodvd\CtcdShell.dll" /u You should get a message "DllUnregisterServer in C:\Program Files\VSO\copytodvd\CtcdShell.dll succeeded", now reboot and delete the VSO folder. If you do not get the above message put the following in the "Run" dialog and click OK. regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\VSO\copytodvd\copytodvd\CtcdShell.dll" /u If you have obtained the software as part of the 1Click software then you should download the software from thier website only. The version on the 1Click site is 3.0.56 and contains an older Patin-Couffin driver, let us know if reverting back to this version corrects your problem. |

It is what give's 1click the ability to burn from with in it's gui. |

| Installing an older version without first correcting the multi-install isuue could have just made things worse. Also unless the PC driver is removed completely it will not be overwritten with an older PC driver. |
