Anyone know what this error means?

I just got this error. What does it mean? write error at 16 (16) - code 05 21 02 [illegal request, invalid address for write] I have made many successful burns already this just started appearing. Thanks.

Hi Videopro This normally idicates a system issue. Could be a lot of things. Could you please post your copytodvd log and some system specs like what other burning soft u have installed?

my system: I have a tyan 64 bit mother board. two 3.2 xeon processors. 80g system drive. 1 260g storage and 1 300g storage and 2 g of ram. I have nero but don't use it, I have canopus procoder express that can burn right to disk but thats it. If i close the program and start over it burns fine. I make a few burns and then i get this error. Could it be my media not that compatible with my burner? I have a pioneer dvr509 and burn Ridata Thanks.

Do you mean Pioneer DVR 109? If so have you tried 1.57? Is this ridata g05 8x -r or another speed media? Sorry for all the questions , but this all helps get a picture of your setup. A copytodvd changelog would be really useful Smile

It is Ridata -r 8x but i don't know about go5. The burner says dvr509 but i think it is the same thing because when windows found new drive it registered as the 109. What is 1.57? Nice change log - thanks! From this log it seems you are recording an 8x media at 12x on firmware version 1.40 on the Pioneer 109 ( or a clone of the 109 ). You are also using Intel Ide drivers. So now we have a few possible reasons for the odd bad burn. 1. Overspeeding a 8x media at 12x ( not every 8x media can do 12x perfectly ). 2. A new firmware may help but as it is not happening everytime I believe it is the overspeeding causing the issue Latest firmware for the 109 series of drives 1.57 and contains many updates for media. 3. Using an IDE driver such as the intel accelerator may be interferring ( you could try the default windows drivers but again it should effect every burn if driver related ). So I do firmly believe that its the overspeeding at fault here. it would be interesting to see if you limited your next 5 recordings to this media at 8x, wether or not this problem would re occur.

Tell if i am wrong. To change the speed i need to go to property settings and change speed Max to 8x? If not how do i change the speed of the write.

I just registered after found this thread, i have a pio109, a pio108 for spare and 105 on another pc; got the same error and trashed 6 support of 6 with the 109 (firmware 1.5 Cool

of a new 25 pieces G05 pack, 105 appears to burn but the 108 i reconnected at the time game me an error in verify after writing; a speed test with cd-dvd speed give to me a constant read 2x with both 105 and 108, and samething looking like a road of mountain with read peaks going from 1x to aprrox 5x. Then i opened another box of G04, this is a 50 pieces box and not a 25 like the previous and used it in the last week, they're not very good but still better, no problems in recording and verifying also with pioneer 109 and better results in read with all 3 writers. I finally did another test, i writed an old purple G04 4X with the 108, i finally can read up to 14x and 16x, my writers are fine (i didn't burned too many support actually), it seem the the same G05 buyed and writed on 2004 christmas also reach 14x and 16x in writing but i didn't keep any empty. A finally buyed today for testing a boxed verbatim and writed with the pio109 at 6x, it also read very well so i'm now here writing about it. Does Ritek quality went down by the time or i got fake/bugged ones? Especially the two 25 pieces box and 50 pieces box came with the same orde, i have them now under my eyes and i can't see any difference. Ah, i usually write 4x or 6x and not more with 108 or 109, and 2x only with the 105, actually the remained defective supports are packed here in a angle.
