Hi there, Just to be sure, the account used to install the application, does it have "Administrator Rights" ? Are you running a software that tracks registry changes ? (And it's preventing it ?)

Just a guess: Did you run by any chance Newsleecher on your PC? There's a thread on the NL forum about the copy protection of that program (Armadillo) changing access rights in the registry, and there's a fixed version also. Your problem sounds similar to the problems reported there.

indeed, I don't know similar report, it should come from another software installed or antivirus or something like that.

Sorry for the late reply. To check whether a buggy Newsleecher version has changed your registry, run RegEdit and have a look at at the permissions of HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT (right click on the key to see the permissions). If it looks like http://www.newsleecher.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6471&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=5 in the upper screenshot, permissions are wrong and you need to change them back as described in http://www.newsleecher.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6471&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=registry&start=30. Be very careful as messing around with the registry might render your Windows installation unusable. If the permissions look like in the lower screenshot, your problem origins somewhere else.
