Help a newbie please.

Hi, I have used the trial of DivXtoDVD and CopytoDVD for the last month with no problems, I burnt about 20 DVDs. Recently I upgraded to buy CopytoDVD and since then I have had trouble burning. Everthing seems to work ok, no problems reported, but when I play a burnt disc there is only about 8-10mins of movie on it. I have done nothing different, so where am I going wrong. Help please!

Hi there, Welcome to the forum. Can you provide us a little bit more information please ? Can you also provide use with a copy (Portion) of the logs of 1 burn that went bad ? What burner are you using ? What brand of media are you using ? (The most important is what's the MEDIA ID !) What speed are you burning at ? VSO Inspector v1.1 can provide all these information. (Can also be found in the logs of DivxToDVD and CopyToDVD). I use both software, latest version without problems, so let's try to see what's different on your system... I thing I know for a fact, using CHEAP quality media and/or burning too fast causes playback problems. Are you having playback issues ? Does the burn go 100% without errors, or do you get errors in the middle of burning ? With the logs, we can probably see more what's going on ! The best media out there are: Taiyo Yuden / Verbatim / Maxell The WORSE are the ones made by CMC Mags (CMC Magnetics), for example the brand name MEMOREX. Burner: HL-DT-ST DVD-RW GCA-4080 N OC35 [D] (Ide) Media: Imation DVD+R Media Id: MBIPG101-R04-01 Speed: Max...... but I changed this to slower. I'm having problems sending log "The Extension log is not allowed"....? Thanks.

Hi there, From what I can see on the net, you see to have the latest firmware for your drive. Open the log file with NOTEPAD, and just copy and paste 1 section *** Star here *** *** End Here *** I'm curious to see what kind of errors you are getting. When you say you have selected "Slow" I assume you are using Blindwrite ? (CopyToDVD copy DISK to DISK ? )

Thanks again for your help. During the burn process everything seems to go fine with no errors reported. When I remove the disc you can actually see that only about 1/5 of disc has been burnt. I will use some of the media you have recommended and report back if I have any success/failure. Thanks a lot for your help.

Hello again, I have read others having issues with v3.0.61 and went back yo v3.0.60 I have the latest v3.0.61 and will try to run a few tests myself. As a ßeta Tester, I can send email directly to VSO, so I will try to reproduce your problems (1/5 of the disks burned etc..) Good Luck ! I will try to keep you posted if I do find something !
