Hi desertvet and welcome to our forums It would seem your error may be media or writer related. Can you post details on what writer and media brand you are using? Also what software you used to convert and burning software you tried to burn with?

You where absolutly correct in your prognosis, i was trying to write the disk @ 8x... i slowed my write speed to 4x and it worked like a charm. BTW i am using VSO's Divx to Dvd ver 1.99.19 and burning it with Nero Premium Ed.my Disk Are Maxell Dvd-R 4.7Gb DR TR 120 min 1- 8x write/ Read. 1 sided recordable. My DVD burner is a Sony DVD-RW DW-D22A

Strange that it wont work at 8x but maybe the Sony just prefers it at 4x. Are you on the latest firmware for your writer?
