Have just upgraded from a HP 200i DVD Writer to an HP 300i DVD Writer. Was working fine on 200i - but after install of 300i, now get CopyToDVD write error: Type Error: Unable to start the write process - finalization skipped to preserve media Type Error: WriteSector failed at sector 16(16): Code 00 24 00 (No sense information) The DVD can read DVDs and can copy data using HP's Record Now program. Anyone know what's happening above? Question Question Thanks!

I do have NAV 2003 installed, but has not caused problems in past - just after new DVD writer installed did this err appear. Here's the Log of the errors: the first one is the last where it was stating the DVD+R I had in could not be written to cause it wasn't blank (this is because C2DVD had attempted to write to it and failed! - But FYI - I put this same DVD+R back in and was able to burn the DVD+R using NERO 6 just fine. So does not appear to be DVD Writer issue and the DVD+R was recoverable even - works in DVD Player! - but copytodvd would not read nor write with it - due to original err and then the later errors - did this to 2 DVDs): 2/12/2004 1:05:42 PM info ********** Report session closed *********** 2/12/2004 10:20:09 AM error Unable to start the write process - finalization skipped to preserve media 2/12/2004 10:20:09 AM error WriteSector failed at sector 16 (16) - Code 00 24 00 [No sense information.] 2/12/2004 10:19:58 AM info Start Write Buffer 2/12/2004 10:19:57 AM info Start writing... 2/12/2004 10:19:57 AM info Buffer under-run proof enabled 2/12/2004 10:19:57 AM info Writing speed selected x2.0 2/12/2004 10:19:57 AM info Open Image file "C:\Documents and Settings\New\Application Data\CopyToDvd\COPYTODVD_02122004_101956_970.cache" 2/12/2004 10:19:57 AM info Available sector size : 2295104 2/12/2004 10:19:57 AM info Detected media $001B : DVD+R 2/12/2004 10:19:56 AM info Detected media $001B : DVD+R 2/12/2004 10:19:56 AM info Estimated Disc Size 2295104 2/12/2004 10:19:54 AM info Drive not ready - Code 06 28 00 [Unit attention, Not ready to ready change, medium may havbe changed] 2/12/2004 10:19:49 AM info Continue button pressed 2/12/2004 10:19:46 AM info Drive not ready - Code 02 04 01 [NOT READY, in process of becoming ready] 2/12/2004 10:19:38 AM info Drive not ready - Code 02 04 01 [NOT READY, in process of becoming ready] 2/12/2004 10:19:36 AM info Drive not ready - Code 02 3A 00 [NOT READY, no CD inserted] 2/12/2004 10:19:34 AM info Drive not ready - Code 02 3A 00 [NOT READY, no CD inserted] 2/12/2004 10:19:32 AM info Drive not ready - Code 02 3A 00 [NOT READY, no CD inserted] 2/12/2004 10:19:30 AM info Drive not ready - Code 02 3A 00 [NOT READY, no CD inserted] 2/12/2004 10:19:28 AM info Drive not ready - Code 02 3A 00 [NOT READY, no CD inserted] 2/12/2004 10:19:26 AM info Drive not ready - Code 02 3A 00 [NOT READY, no CD inserted] 2/12/2004 10:19:24 AM info Drive not ready - Code 02 3A 00 [NOT READY, no CD inserted] 2/12/2004 10:19:21 AM info Opening tray because inserted media (DVD+R) is not blank or erasable, and a blank media is required for DVD VIDEO creation mode 2/12/2004 10:19:21 AM info Estimated Disc Size 2295104 2/12/2004 10:19:19 AM info Drive not ready - Code 06 28 00 [Unit attention, Not ready to ready change, medium may havbe changed] 2/12/2004 10:19:11 AM info Drive not ready - Code 02 04 01 [NOT READY, in process of becoming ready] 2/12/2004 10:19:03 AM info Drive not ready - Code 02 04 01 [NOT READY, in process of becoming ready] 2/12/2004 10:19:01 AM info Continue button pressed 2/12/2004 10:18:55 AM info Drive not ready - Code 02 04 01 [NOT READY, in process of becoming ready] 2/12/2004 10:18:53 AM info Drive not ready - Code 02 3A 00 [NOT READY, no CD inserted] 2/12/2004 10:18:51 AM info Drive not ready - Code 02 3A 00 [NOT READY, no CD inserted] 2/12/2004 10:18:49 AM info Drive not ready - Code 02 3A 00 [NOT READY, no CD inserted] 2/12/2004 10:18:47 AM info Drive not ready - Code 02 3A 00 [NOT READY, no CD inserted] 2/12/2004 10:18:45 AM info Drive not ready - Code 02 3A 00 [NOT READY, no CD inserted] 2/12/2004 10:18:43 AM info Media has been found ready but media test has failed.
