| This has most likely been suggested before but I am new here so please beer with me. I use DVD Shrink to rip my movies and DVD ReMake to edit them. It requires me to Rip, Edit, Save As New, Shrink To Fit, then Burn. I was wondering if it were possible to add a shrink feature to DVD ReMake to cut down on the steps required? Thanks for a great program |

| Welcome to the site. I don;t think that's gonna happen..why re-invent the wheel. Plus Shrink is so well written and works. You did not mention what you use to "Rip", however, I do not see where you need to save as new. Here is a typical procedure that I and alot use. 1. Rip - Using DVD Decrypter with AnyDVD running in background. You must turn off structure protection in DVDD and Utilize the ELBYCDIO. This is ONLY needed so far with ArcoSS encoded DVD's. (Sony, Columbia Pictures). If your not ripping them, you can leave DVDD alone and not purchase AnyDVD. 2. Edit - Using DVDRemakePro, then Export finished project DVD to another folder. 3. If it's over the 4.7 gig size after your editing you can do one of two things. Depending on what kind of quality you want, bitrate of material, size and type of movie (lot's of action, fast moving scences) and amount of reduction you need, you can transcode the project (DVDShrink, CloneDVD, 1clickcopy, DVD Cloner..etc..etc) or use a true encoder that rencodes the whole project (DVD Rebuilder with HC Encoder or CCE) Hope this helps. | I use DVD Shrink to rip my disk and then I use DVD ReMake to edit. That is when I save as new meaning I make a new folder that has the dvd as I changed it with ReMake. I then use DVD Shrink to compress and Nero to burn. I have read that alot of people use DVD Decrypter to rip ( and I don't know anything about AnyDVD ) because they run into problems with DVD Shrink and some DVD's, But some of the disks mentioned on the DVD Shrink forum as problematic have gone smoothly when I did them so I have not needed to use anything else. thanks for your response |

Hi janderstrahd and welcome, yep it was discussed in the early development days and pretty much decided as mr Monte says 'why reinvent the wheel'. Instead of spending time hooking up a decoder/transcoder/burner the path chosen was to put all this development time to better use with the dvd editing features that make this software so great Almost everyone has acess to some sort of transcoder wether it be a paid for one or the great free DVDShrink ( no longer developed ) and of course DVDDecrypter does most protections. We also have DVD43Free or the paid for AnyDVD ( updated quicker than DVD43Free ) to run in the background. I too would love DRMPro to do it 'allinone' but with so many different ways to do it you couldnt keep up with development time needed to make it work correctly on all setups ( how did DVDShrink keep it with it all ? - did he sleep? ) |
