Hello, I will try and explain what is happening as best as I can. I have sucsesfully been able to burn a DVD that works perfectly with CopytoDVD, but one day I was trying to Author a menu using DVDlabStudio which is compatible to burn using CopytoDVD. I wasn't sure how the Burn was going to turn out so I opted to use a DVD-RW until I was satisfied. CopytoDVD warned me that I was using a RW Media and asked if I would like to erase the current contents if any, I said yes and it then went to the burn screen where the estimated time said ??? . At this point the Burn Process Failed and the program froze up, I forced quit it using Task Manager and then went to look at what happened, two minutes later my screen goes completely blank. After restarting my computer I noticed I am missing all my internal CD-ROM devices and the burner which is connected via USB. My PC said it was able to load the drivers but could not locate the devices (Code 41). Further more my System 32 Folder was missing but it said it was there (I am set to show all hidden folders). After a lot of troubleshooting I had to reformat my PC and start from scratch. When I was completely loaded up I retried my burning Project with a different project alltogether but using a DVD-RW... I got the same problem, (Program froze) but re-booted right away.... now I cannot get my DVD Re-Writer to recognize anything other then an audio CD.... Can Someone help me figure out what is wrong before I reformat my PC again..... SYSTEM SETTINGS AND INFORMATION OS: Windows XP Pro SP1 Processor: Intel Pentium 4 CPU @ 1.8 GHz 256 MB RAM DVD Burner: I/O Magic DVD RW +/- Dual DVD Burner at 16x Internal Devices: DVD-ROM & CD-RW Programs That I use that are all suffering this "Current" problem: InterVideo WinDVD Creator and Player 6, CopytoDVD & DivXtoDVD, DVDlabStudio, Nero 6.0 Patin-Couffin Info: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v288/Nascar_Perry/driverinfo.bmp These programs currently state that the proper media is not inserted or cannot be used with that device but they are the correct media since my burner can handle DVD+/-R and +/-RW and the media is blank. I can supply much more information that is needed to correct this issue and that I will be able to use to correct this issue in the future. Thank you for your time, I look forward to your response

You may need to update the firmware for your drive, or you may need to look for updated chipset drivers. If this problem plagues everything, then it may not be a specific software issue but a hardware issue, since all applications are affected as you elude too. If you have access to a friends computer and since yours is a usb drive, could you "borrow" theirs to eliminate your drive? Might even be worth a shot to try a different brand of media, to eliminate this as the source also. double check your usb 2 drivers also, sometimes they aren't installed properly, or at all when you install SP1, look at intels website for them, they should have them. I'm not sure how your device manager would list them on my AMD they are listed as enhanced usb device drivers.

none of the above options have fixed the issue I am suffering... When I try and use the check program that came with The Couffin Driver, I can get all my other ROM drives to open with the open tray command, but for my DVD ROM I get a "Command Terminated with Error." I believe that somewhere on my PC, something has shanged, because I now get this problem even after uninstalling the Programs (all of them) and reinstalling them. This error started happening when CopytoDVD froze up on me. Firmware and Chipset/Processor Drivers have already been updated after the first re-wipe.
