Hi I am running copyToDVD on Windows 2000 Server professional. Few months ago when I installed a Microsoft patch CopyToDVD didn't burn DVD anymore. I uninstalled that and it worked. Now I am updating my OS with 12 patches and it is not working anymore. I don't know which patch is causing the problem and I don't want to uninstall any critical patch. Any help is greatly appreciated. The following is the log. All successful writing is CD writes and all problematic ones are DVD burns. I tested many different DVD and brands. 07-06-05 3:05:20 PM info ********** Report session closed *********** 07-06-05 3:05:20 PM info Write completed 07-06-05 3:05:20 PM info Average speed x0.00 Reference x1 = 150.00 kbps 07-06-05 3:05:20 PM info Total burning time 00:00:25.281 07-06-05 3:04:54 PM info Starting write buffer 07-06-05 3:04:54 PM info Starting to write... 07-06-05 3:04:54 PM info Buffer under-run proof enabled 07-06-05 3:04:54 PM info Writing speed requested x20, effective x16 07-06-05 3:04:54 PM info Open Image file "C:\Documents and Settings\ingres\Application Data\CopyToDvd\COPYTODVD_06072005_150454_492.cache" 07-06-05 3:04:54 PM info Available sector size : 359997 07-06-05 3:04:54 PM info Blank or incomplete CD-R 07-06-05 3:04:54 PM info Detected media $0009: CD-R 07-06-05 3:04:54 PM info Blank or incomplete CD-R 07-06-05 3:04:54 PM info Detected media $0009: CD-R 07-06-05 3:04:54 PM info Finished browsing files - I see several things in your log that could be causing the problem. #1, your version of copytodvd is not current #2, you writer appears to be connected to an add-in card, it shows it as scsi #3, if your not using an add-in card are you using any application accelerators? #4, 1.A3 is the current firmware for the 1100 see here: http://www.de.nec.de/softwareoverview2.php/id/557/lang/ENG A few places to start.

It would appear that your controller has had problems with atapi's in the past, is the bios for your promise current? I myself got away from the promise controller card for my SATA Plextors, they were hit or miss on recognition during start-up. http://www.promise.com/support/download/download2_eng.asp?productId=87&category=bios&os=100&go=GO Your log clearly shows when the device is being recognized and when it isn't. Could you post another portion of your log with the new version installed? And just to rule out the Controller card, is it possible for you to hook it up to a straight IDE 1 or 2 master or slave to see if it's recognized there? Is the bios on the controller card picking the the NEC up properly?
