Confused be gentle with me,this is my first post and I am a 72 yr old woman.I have been d/loading torrents and putting them on disc with labels etc.and fair pleased with myself at times. Now had a cheap dvd player which started to freeze etc and wouldnt play all my discs as it was under 3 months old I returned it,so yesterday went out and bought another cheap one,I have over 20 films some with 2 on a disc and out of them all only about 8 play when I try it on another player in another room most of them play, but I dont want to watch in the kitchen with a small screen,I was thinking in going back and changing to a slightly dearer machine with divX compatible(my son says get one with that on it then I read get one divX certified) is he right ?I have spent all day reading as much as I can about various machines my head is spinning. They all say recordable but I have a humax that does all my recording, cant I just get a plain player to play my dvds, sorry for the long post.

Probably it is due to the media quality you're using. Got any scratches?

Rule of thumb:
1. Make sure that your burner's firmware is up-to-date.
2. Use good quality and reliable media, like Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden (available for purchase on the net and local stores).
3. Burn at average speed (not slowest nor maximum speed).
4. Make sure your dvd player is clean.
