I'm a newbie with this software and this is my first post, so please go easy with me.

I have a folder with musical selections which are in 'ape' format. I would like to burn these files to CD (to play in my car's CD player). I can't seem to figure out how to do that this using CopyToDVD, so I could use your help.

If this is doable, I'd appreciate learning how to go about doing it and would you also tell me if it's ok to use my data CD blanks, or is it necessary for me to get Audio CDs?

Thank you in advance for any help.

Hello,
this is the first time I have ever seen the .ape extension. I googled it and found this program.
http://www.mymusictools.com/audio_cd_burners_5/ape2cd_25649.htm
it says this program that you can dl there (shareware, $19 to buy) burns .ape to cd's
hope this works for you

Hi there,

I think the .APE support has been dropped from v4.0.1 to v4.0.3

All audio libraries were updated, and they dropped the .APE support.

As mentioned above, there's probably a lot of .APE to something else converter, which will probably work.

My 2 cents...

Curious indeed why VSO would eliminate that feature - doesn't make sense to me! Rolling Eyes
That's really too bad - in Dec, I bought a used laptop on ebay which had v4 on it and before finding this forum, I d/l and installed v4.03!

Thanks, that saves me a few $... But that raises the question - what is the advantage (if any) to using audio CDs? Question

Audio CD-Rs are more expensive as the price includes licensing fees, and most of them are limited in speed. They are only required for standalone audio CD recorders, which usually don't accept normal CD-Rs.

Thanks for the reply. Can I construe this to mean that Data CDs work well in CD/DVD players, such as those installed in cars?

Btw Phil, as you are with VSO Software, why was support for copying ape files to CD removed from v4.03 (per tabby, above)? Question

Hi there,

I have always used the same CD-R for Data and Music.

Never burned them above 16x or 24x (Personal Choice) and never had an issue with any CD Players (Home, Bedroom, CDMAN, Car Player etc...)

Between version 4.0.1 and 4.0.3 changes were made to the audio library CopyToDVD uses. Some enhances were made, not everything is finished. As soon we can Phil, Tabby or Iwill let you know about the advancements for the ape format. Email me (with out the spaces) claire @ vso-software.fr and I can send you version 4.0.1 if you would like as hopefully will be only a temporary solution.
