| Can anyone suggest or recommend a bit of software to convert my captured mpeg2 files to vobs etc etc. Basically I want to convert them and burn them. As Sonic my DVD is pretty crap. So I have found a bit of software that can capture from my adaptec pci card to plain mpeg2 files. Any ideas people?????? |

I agree that Sonic myDVD leaves a lot to be desired. Unfortunately, most inexpensive DVD authoring software isn't much better, in my opinion. I have captured hundreds of hours of video myself (with the same card that you have) and I have made some, what I think are very impressive, professional-looking DVDs with DVD-lab Pro. It's not real cheap but I think that you get what you pay for. The Pro version costs $199US and the standard version is $99. I have done things like motion menus, multiple audio tracks, and menu lead-ins. On a few of my latest projects, I created a second audio track, that is selectable from a menu, where my wife narrates the video...pretty cool If your interested in DVD-lab, you can check it out here: http://www.mediachance.com/dvdlab/index.html Oh and by the way, DVD-lab will import the mpeg2 system files that myDVD saves your captures as. |

| fluke was referring to mpeg2 files that he got from capturing with a hardware mpeg2 capture card. Most capture cards are software-based and usually save the input stream to an avi which you could use winavi with. With the hardware capture card the video is mpeg2 encoded on-the-fly by the card itself, so winavi would not work with its output, which is a mpeg2 system file. |

| I have several mpg files that I want to convert to dvd standard vob etc. for burning to dvd. my problem is that the few conversion sw I have tryed can't open the video. they all will play it back fine and some DVDsanta as an example will attempt the conversion but the resulting files only have audio and no video but all seems in the right format. I am capturing from hardware cards one from my vcr and another is a sat card. the resulting mpgs play well on the pc ....but why can't I convert these files ? |
